“For the album cut “Resilient” Substantial brings on Seattle producer and Bop Alloy partner Marcus D to provide a smoothed out, jazz infused remix. The track, originally produced by Eric Lau, is a testament to the strength it takes to claim your identity and walk your own path. The Marcus D jazz remix is a perfect fit for the reflective & uplifting declarations of Substantial.”

The Black Opera “All Over Disguise (Apollo Brown Remix)”

“The Black Opera have quickly proven to be beacons of light in the game, emerging at a time when the landscape is fragmented. Their EnterMission. project presented them as faceless champions for change and forward-motion. Now partnering with Mello Music Group, they are releasing the physical manifestation of EnterMission. on Disc today.

They’ve enlists now label-mate Apollo Brown to put his midas touch on “All Over Disguise”, a cut from EnterMission. originally produced by Astronote. Apollo chops a string sample beautifully to craft a reflective slow burner takes the vibe of the original audio demonstration to a more contemplative place. TBO’s introspection is augmented with powerful lines like, “analogue to digital, man is lost and miserable / seeking more (moor) in general, Othello” – a clever Shakespearian nod to the Moorish General Othello on-top of a track that knocks.

The anonymous creative collective is currently perfecting their next musical installment, Libretto: of King Legend, due out this fall, but the CD version of EnterMission. drops today with the vinyl on the way!”

Has Lo “Inherit The Stars (Paten Locke Remix)” (Video)

“Has-Lo has been unceremoniously spitting that raw rap for some time now. Through c o llaborations and projects of his own, like his Mello Music Group debut In Case I Don’t Make It, Has shows that there is more to his hip-hop scene than meets the eye. Has is releasing a series of visuals to accompany tracks from his debut project and remix project, the first of which is “Inherit The Stars”, a Paten Locke remix of the track “Fiber Optics” that debuted earlier today on Mass Appeal.

Fellow MC/Producer Paten Locke takes what was a subdued, drum-driven burner and turns it into something a bit more eccentric. A quirky jazz loop serves as the foundation for the re-contextualization where Has-Lo’s introspective street rhymes are contrasted rather than complimented. The video is a mind-melting animated affair. Taking cues from Has’ lyrics and delivery, director Nathan Hunter gives us animation that plays like a “mental MRI” in rapid fire succession of converging black-and-white scenes and situations.

The track is available on Conversations B, Has-Lo’s remix project of his still bubbling debut “In Case I Don’t Make It”. Finally, after much critical acclaim, this fall Mello Music Group will be giving In Case I Don’t Make It a proper vinyl release. Stay tuned!”
